The Android version is currently onboarding developers, and more than 100 studios have already expressed interest in joining. The platform charges a 15% commission on developer revenues.
Skich began as a platform for quickly discovering interesting mobile games and eventually evolved into a full-fledged app store. Co-founder and CEO Sergey Budkovsky notes that the startup understands firsthand how difficult it is for mobile game developers to gain attention, especially when teams have limited marketing budgets. He calls the Android release the most important step for Skich. «We’re offering a real alternative where great games can succeed not through advertising budgets, but through their core qualities,» Budkovsky stated.
The launch comes shortly after the San Francisco District Court rejected Google’s appeal in the antitrust case brought by Epic Games. Now Google is required to open Google Play to third-party app stores and provide them with access to its catalog.
