Minsk plans to install approximately 19,000 surveillance cameras on residential apartment buildings, according to BelTA, citing Marina Tolstik, Director General of the capital’s Housing and Communal Services Department. Currently, 435 Minsk buildings are under video surveillance, equipped with 2,000 cameras.

The new cameras will target building entrances, adjacent areas, including playgrounds, and waste disposal areas. This initiative aims to address complaints about service quality, monitor waste removal, yard cleaning, parking, and, of course, maintain order and security.

The cameras will be equipped with machine vision and AI capabilities. The system will operate 24/7 with both human operators and automated systems. Initially, the AI will be trained to detect key events, with functionality expanding over time.

The video surveillance project is being implemented in partnership with Beltelecom, which notes that it has the necessary technological capabilities and experience. The company has previously deployed the centralized healthcare information system, video surveillance projects for educational institutions, and existing residential surveillance systems.
