Google CEO says vibe coding makes software development fun again

At Google itself, there has been a noticeable increase in employees making their first contributions to the codebase.

Pichai acknowledges that, along with growing popularity, come risks, especially when dealing with large, serious projects where accuracy and security are crucial. Currently, vibe coding is better suited to experimental tasks than to mission-critical software. But as technologies develop, this approach will become increasingly powerful and an important part of the future of development. According to Pichai, what we’re seeing today is ‘the weakest’ level—and it will only get better from here.
